After you are done with your GCSE/IGCSE Examinations, decide on the stream that you are going to choose. This is the most important decision in your life. Don’t let anyone influence you. You know yourself well and so, you need to make the right decision. You can consider various factors while choosing your stream like:
*The subjects you are interested in.
* The most in-demand jobs available in the future related to the streams.
*How well have you performed in your previous exams in those subjects.
*You can consider your GCSE/ IGCSE results as well.
* Your ambition in life.
When you are done with this major decision, then begin to pursue your dreams. Remember, hard work is the only way that you can achieve what you want. Make sure you put in all your efforts and trust the process. It is only then when you can see the change. Advanced levels (A/L’s) aren’t easy as you think, but with the right
determination and dedication, we are certain you will be able to go places in the future.
Start looking for Universities when you are in year 11 and make a shortlist of around 10 Universities and the degrees that you may want to do. Ensure that you take the IELTS (English test) if you prefer studying in countries like Australia, UK, Canada and some other European countries. A/L Mathematics is also a main requirement for many universities despite the field you choose to study in countries like the US and Canada.
This will help giving you a kick start when it is actually time for applying and that way a lot of time can be saved.
When you are in year 12, it would be the perfect time to start sending out your applications along with your predicted results and reference letter from your current school.
Ensure you choose a University that is right and affordable for you. Make sure you reach out to anyone you know who is already studying at the selected institution and always be open to recommendations and suggestions from your loved ones as they always know what is right for you.
We at OpenMind wholeheartedly wish all of you the very best for your future progression.
May God make your journey towards success be easy and help you overcome all
the difficulties that you may face in the process.
